The HAA Coaching Group aim to run a number of workshops every year which give coaches in the county opportunities to learn and develop their skill set. These workshops also count as CPD for those coaches needing to achieve CPD points in order to renew their coaching licences.
If you would like to suggest or offer workshops, please contact us and let us know.
There are limited spaces available on all workshops, please ensure you are able to attend before booking.
Please email hampshirecco@gmail.com to book a space on a workshop.
Please note: Unless stated otherwise there will be a £5 charge for workshops to cover the costs of tea, coffee, biscuits and venue hire. Please pay on arrival via cash or card. Some workshops will include hand-outs for you to take away, but we recommend that you bring pen/pencil/notepad for making notes if you wish.
This workshop is for coaches who want to increase their abilities and confidence in communicating with archers who have hearing loss. If you regularly coach, the chances are that you have coached people who have hearing difficulties already; one in five adults in the UK are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus. This figure may sound surprising, but many people feel uncomfortable discussing their hearing difficulties and there may be no visible signs. Whether or not an individual chooses to disclose their hearing loss with you, there are steps you can take as a coach to reduce participation barriers and improve the accessibility of archery at your club. What's more, the strategies and techniques that you will learn in this workshop will help you be a better communicator, not just for archers with hearing loss, but for all the archers you work with.
Quicks will have staff available to discuss and demonstrate new equipment introduced by manufacturers this year, and answer your questions, so that you can be up-to-date with products which you can then recommend to your archers. This workshop will be held at Quicks in Waterlooville and there will be no tea-break and therefore no charge for this workshop. If you have attended this workshop before, Quicks ask that you do not attend again and allow other coaches the chance to attend as space in their shop is limited.
A bow tuning workshop aimed primarily at Level 1 & Session coaches to cover bow tuning resources included in the Level 2 & Development coaching courses.
Teaching development of good technique, observation, analysis, diagnosis and intervention. This workshop is designed to improve your observation skills by following a process. This is fundamental to good coaching and the development of good archers. You will be observing archers shooting Recurve, Barebow and Compound during the session. Handouts will be provided to help you cover all the items necessary to help your archer improve their technique.
This is a coaching session open to all archers within Hampshire Archery Association. Coaches of all grades from across the county will be available throughout the afternoon to help archers develop their technique, right from recent beginner level up to performance coaching for the more experienced archers. Help will be available with all sorts of aspects of shooting and equipment, including 1:1 coaching with individual archers.
Coaches are invited to attend this session and put their skills to use. CPD points may be gained on the basis of working with more senior coaches during the session.
